Test-taking Tips for success

DBMS begins EOG testing Tuesday, May 14. Here are some tips to ensure our students are at peak test-taking form.

Get plenty of sleep the night before the test. Our students have to get up early to catch the bus and they need at least nine hours of sleep.

Drink plenty of water this week! Water helps the brain and body work more effectively.

Come to the testing site prepared. No personal belongings or electronics of any kind are allowed in the testing room. Please make sure these items are put in your locker before testing. The only thing you may bring into the testing site is a novel, magazine, comic, or graphic novel so you can read when you are finished testing.

Eat breakfast! All students at DBMS receive free breakfast and lunch. If you don’t eat breakfast at home, please make sure you eat at school.

Be on time. Students should be in their homeroom ready to work by 7:25 a.m. Late students disrupt the testing process and have to make up the exam anyway.

Dress comfortably and in layers. You will be taking the test for up to four hours. Remember dress code includes no blankets.

Remember your test-taking strategies. Do you tend to rush through the test? Make yourself slow down by reading the question and answer choices multiple times.

Finally, relax! You’ve been preparing for this test all year. Sit back and show the world what you know!
