Seanpatrick Donnelly, LaTanya Patillo, and Keith BlackwellDouglas Byrd Middle School CTE Teachers, Seanpatrick Donnelly and Keith Blackwell (pictured here with LaTanya Patillo, Teacher Advisor to the Governor), recently attended the ExperienceMore Computer Science Educators Forum and NCBCE ExperienceMore Work Based Learning Summit in Durham, NC. During the Summit, they shared classroom experiences with the LEAP team at Fidelity Investments and the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, and discussed the future of Computer Science in K-12 education and the importance of integration of computer science into the core curriculum.

Mr. Donnelly stated, “This was an excellent experience for both of us in my opinion as we were able to see what other counties are doing through CTE classes that are offered.  Just to have the insight of the hands-on experience that students receive is just amazing.”

Mr. Blackwell viewed the summit as, “An opportunity to see the future of education and how educators can better prepare our students for the careers in IT and Computer Science”.
