Cumberland County Schools Child NutritionCommunity Eligibility Provision (CEP)
Cumberland County Schools (CCS) Child Nutrition Services is excited to announce that Douglas Byrd Middle School is one of 39 schools that will be participating in The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2019-2020 school year. The provision enables each student enrolled in the participating schools to receive a breakfast and lunch at no charge on days when school is in session. Students enrolled at participating CEP schools are not required to submit a lunch application to receive meals at no charge.

PTA officer positions are open to parents, faculty, and staff. Please consider volunteering for one of these positions.  Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

PTA Dues are $10.00

Meeting Dates and Times:  The third Monday of each month at  2:45 pm in room 101.  Meetings are for one hour. In the event that circumstances change, meeting dates may change.  Prior notice of changes will be sent out as soon as possible. We welcome back all of our wonderful students and parents.  We hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer break.  Let’s get ready to work hard and learn all that we can to achieve great things in the coming school year.

Home Base is a statewide student information system Home Base gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades and assignments. Home Base offers tools for parents, students, teachers, and administrators. Families with multiple students can set up their accounts to view all of their students at one time, with one login (Single Sign-On).

Our district goal is to provide access to all CCS parents. Check with the office for information about the Home Base Parent/Student Portal access codes.

Volunteers are a very important resource for our schools. Potential volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to: teacher assistant, lunch monitor, reading to a class, guest speakers, school-based mentoring, and tutoring. To find out more about volunteer opportunities, please visit the CVS Website. In order to mentor or volunteer you must fill out the CCS Volunteer Registration form.

Student Accident Insurance

Voluntary Membership in a group accident insurance program is made available to students each school year. Participation in the plan is voluntary and made available through school publications annually and parents are urged to purchase it for their children.

If you don’t already have accident insurance for your child, Cumberland County Schools has contracted with Markel and AJ Gallagher to offer coverage, which you may purchase at their website anytime during the school year by visiting

  • Voluntary student accident insurance is “primary” insurance, meaning it pays even if you have other medical insurance.
  • While you may purchase coverage anytime during the year, the cost will be the same.
  • Cumberland County Schools provides limited secondary accident insurance coverage for high and middle school athletes.  Primary coverage for your child is still recommended.
  • Cumberland County Schools general liability insurance excludes student medical expenses unless it can be shown that the school system or district acted negligently.
  • Voluntary Student Accident Insurance is recommended by school board policy.

As required by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), Title I Part A.  Information is available at our school to include but is not limited to the following:
  • the school improvement plan
  • qualifications of your child’s teacher and/or teacher assistant
  • professional development opportunities for teachers and assistants to ensure highly qualified personnel
  • opportunities for parent involvement and input
  • the district improvement plan
  • the district parent involvement policy
  • the district report card and the school report card
